Very nice specimens Chief! Could you please create your own thread to showcase these plants and keep us all updated. Often times the threads on this forum seem to move off topic and I am hoping we can all work to change that. I'd love to ask some questions about your plants but I will hold off until there's a new thread in order to keep the subject matter relevant.

Site Related / Grafting Contest Discussion
July 11, 2015, 12:51:41 AM
Hey everyone,
This thread is dedicated to any discussion related to upcoming grafting contests on this forum. I know there are plans to have a some grafting contests in the future and it'd be great to get some input regarding how the contests will be run, various rules, entry qualifications, how we choose a winner, etc. If you have any ideas that you'd like to share then please brainstorm here.

I know Roach grows his Pereskiopsis under a 400w MH that was kept on 24 hours a day most of the time when they were inside. They've been outside now for about a month and a half and are looking pretty good. They were slow growing at first out there but were only getting around 3 hours of direct sunlight a day. They've been moved to a new location where they get about 5+ hours of sun and they've fattened up quite a bit now.

Grow Log Update- the seedlings definitely need some tlc after I slowed down watering for quite a while to rid the soil of an overwhelming fungus gnat presence. Gnats seems to be disappearing and I will attempt to revive/transplant any remaining seedlings shortly, with pictures to follow. I've been really wrapped up in getting a new site up and running, my plants must feel very neglected. How is it doing ?

I ended up giving these struggling lophs to a friend to take care of..i felt that they were in a better position to help them recover. But I did plant my own seeds for the first time earlier this month and I've been putting my focus into those instead. Check out the grow logs, I posted some pics there :)

So immediately after i took those photos, I knocked over the pot with the Lophophora v. koehresii seedlings... :o I acted quickly to recover them and carefully handled the seedlings with tweezers, gently replanting them in another pot. They're doing alright, but I guess it's safe to say that I wont be seeing any additional seedlings of that variety popping up. Here's how they're looking today

Hey everyone,
I'm finally getting around to posting my grow log for the three different varieties of Lophophora seeds that I planted earlier this month. There are approximately 100 seeds per pot. I planted them on the 8th of October and covered them with plastic wrap to hold in some moisture. I then gradually poked a few holes in the covers each day so that the plants could slowly adjust to the outside environment without drying out too much. These photos were taken 9 days after the seeds had been planted. The germination rates are varying quite a bit and I'm not really sure why this is happening.

Thanks Chief, I ended up moving the light to a higher level above the plants to decrease the intensity and they responded well. They've bounced back quite a bit and are starting to fatten up again.. I also moved them to a warmer spot in the room away from window drafts

Nice looking lophophora! you're going to need a lot of pots :)

Infirmary / Lighting adjustment for peyote seedlings?
August 29, 2014, 12:53:30 AM
Hey guys,

So I have some peyote seedlings that have been growing for approx. 4-5 months now that began to change from a deep green to a purplish hue after I altered their lighting conditions. Up to this point i had been taking advantage of the long summer days and was just keeping them in a sunny windowsill. I decided to try moving them under a fluorescent light since the days are starting to get shorter. I'm pretty sure that the light was too intense because they started to burn within a few days. I took them out from the light and put them back on the windowsill for now. I need to reverse the damage that the artificial light caused and could really use some advice on how to properly introduce them to the fluorescent for the upcoming winter months. thanks!
