Datura metel hybrid x Datura wrightii var. Mojave
« on: September 20, 2017, 12:28:22 PM »
Datura metel hybrid x Datura wrightii var. Mojave limited seeds available. First poster to this thread gets a free hybrid seed pack. Next 4 requests after that will have to send a S.A.S.E. Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. Offer valid to the end of September.

The Datura wrightii dad (pollen donor) is a nice soft lavender colored and nicely perfumed wild specimen collected from the Mojave desert. I've personally used them as ground covers surrounding my Brugmansia as they stay pretty prostrate.

The Datura metel hybrid used in this cross have purple outer skirts and yellow inner skirts.

Very beautiful plant. I would love to get some seeds. How well would it grow as a house plant indoors?

D. wrightii is the best for growing in pots, cutting back (try to leave 2 inches or more of stem), and then growing very wide horizontally speaking and almost totally prostrate when compared to D. metel hybrid which is much taller.

If you let me know how many seeds you would like, I will try my best to make that happen for you Roach. Send me a PM with your address though as I don't keep that stuff on file. I may have to do multiple shipments though as I literally send the seed out within 1-2 weeks of it maturing. Sometimes much sooner. I have some on hand as we speak... many more pods that are growing. Some may still abort.

This is another picture of my Datura wrightii flower. As you can see, the lavender color does change from time to time. Sometimes a darker shade than others, but generally a very light lavender. The fragrance is best enjoyed at night or the early morning hours.
