It is great to help reveal the truth about this issue.

The truth for me is that when in doubt, I often stamp those little critters out rather than let them gain a significant foot hold. A nice systemic can do that for you. However, one must still keep an eye out for re-infestations as systemics... as good as they are don't last forever. You have to check the bottle to see how often to repeat those applications or one could choose to use a non-systematic insecticide in-between times so long as it seems to work. But, I certainly am not afraid to bring out the big guns when needed.

I studied after reading this. I do get new knowledge, which is really useful.

Now, if you can turn that new knowledge into growing out some seedlings to post here.... I'd find that useful application of your knowledge gained. Regardless, it is nice to find another voice that finds posts about seedlings inspiring. Good to see you here.

Update... tonight I'll be bringing these bad boys and girls down to -2 degrees to see if I can get the purple to intensify a bit. Keep those fingers crossed for me.

Purple seen here I am attributing to the cold. Note however that these are the only seedlings showing this degree of purple out of a sea of seedlings both younger and older than the ones shown here. I'm thinking this may be a nice trait to breed for... similar to how Japanese maples through out some beautiful fall colors. If we can breed purples together to create darker purples that while only purple in the cold months...still put out a beautiful show for that short time... to me that would be sweet indeed.
