if you hold this much cacti as a jaguar headed priest, you too will have a 7 headed dragon connecting to your mind

very simple

cheers to those here :) year of the cactus it is!  ;D

adding salt during the reduction phase of your tea seems to precipitate out green gunk and lets your tea get even more concentrated safely
it also reduces Boiling point, requiring less energy to evaporate off

Im really a big fan of pressure cooking dried chips
reducing that tea to a syrup (without burn smell)
bassify and pull with sunflower oil as long as you want if its in a hot bath
salt with vinegar
run through paper towel
evap
extract crude alks in dry ipa
evap

fin

i find working with fresh cactus rewarding but if its fresh, im just going to make a tea instead of extracting that tea. theres something about the fresh

the tea from chips is non snotty and can often be filtered with coffee filter
this quality seems to help the extraction, its as if the cellulose didnt rehydrate

the tea from fresh plant is often a challenge to run through a hankerchief let alone coffee filter

i think we are going to need a place to share our expressions of cacti :)

Salting
i typically do 1/4 volume of the sunflower oil in vinegar, so a 400 ml pull of sunflower oil uses 100 ml of vinegar (4-5% acetic acid)
then vigorously mix the oil and vinegar (i like to swirl it in a glass tea pot and put it right back into a hot bath)

based upon color after 2 mixings i can tell if theres enough vinegar or i can reuse my salt solution on the next pull

the vinegar will get atleast as dark as the sunflower oil &  be same color after saltings, leaving the NPS clear but yellow if your nps is white after salting, just put it iin the hotbath to settle more

when you have your mescaline vinegar youll need to remove trace amounts of sunflower oil that float on top so
combine all saltings & run through a paper towel in a filter, you may need to do this up to 3 times to be entirely clean

EVAPORATE! this is for some reason often contaminated with something that dosent dissolve in 96%+ IPA but looks like white chalk. extract the evaporate again with IPA

this should yield somethings like this

Powder Vs Tea
&
CaOH Vs NaOH

Ive had success with sunflower oil, CaOH, vinegar, IPA, and Cactus Powder.
yielding waxy yellow alkaloid from trichocereus sp.

however, i got 1/9th the yield when i used CaOH (and had a whole step of removing Calcium Acetate from the product) compared to NaOH. i also had to pressure cook the extraction to get any real progress out of the whole minimalisticly yielding joke.

the lime did not work for extracting tea it only worked on powder, it also made soap quickly and was an absolute mess, using lime requires a hotbath for all extraction vessels constantly

Extracting from powder requires more NaOH than extracting a tea made of the same amount of cacti
example 1:1 is common for lye to plant powder, however for 700 g of chips made into tea only 3 table spoons of NaOH vs 700g as per typical recipies

extractions with lime are at most 4 hours due to saponification, extractions with NaOH have sat around for weeks without serious saponification or emulsion

I think its time we talk about the use of sunflower oil as a non polar solvent in our extraction of mescaline and other cacti alkaloids

Advantages of Sunflower Oil:

-safe to use (dosent melt plastic or burn skin)

-easy to acquire (at a grocery stores near you)

-inconspicuous (whod of thunk it)

-pure product easy (using everyday items)

more to come...

why not skip the hcl and go for the acetate, i get almost white waxy tan awesomeness with it everytime i use a high mesc containing trich for a/b
