I am new to the forum, missed the last contest. Are there going to be more?

Hydroskiopsis Is the name I coined for my version of the hydroponic pereskiopsis, inspired by Anne.

I cannot afford anything extra on lighting at the moment. I have a baby on the way in 6 weeks, all of my extra funds are in place for her right now. Also, I only have my cuttings rooting inside, and some of my younger plants and seedlings. I have too many large cacti to have indoors.

well, last night Tropical Storm Bill destroyed my greenhouse.

None of my plants were inside yet.

Even though this place still needs to grow, I will also try to contribute something daily. I will eventually post some pics, but for the time being this will suffice.

Greatness is not understood. Anne has some wild ideas and puts picture proof with it. Some people still deny her, and say she knows nothing. She tells them off and puts more picture proof. People get offended because cacti should not grow in hydro, and censor her work further. Banishment occurs and she continues her work moving onto a new home.

I was censored and banned myself for my beliefs and thoughts...it happens. Good news is, I found Anne. She inspired me, and now I get to learn from her in real time...instead of years behind her posts.

300 square foot greenhouse
Rooting 35 or so cuttings
120 seeds planted
Hydroskiopsis Farm (my new hydroponic pereskiopsis system inspired by Anne Halonium)

This is what I am currently working on. The greenhouse is nearly finished (waiting on weather). Some of the cuttings have thrown their first root buds, but still plenty to go. I had about 30 other seeds sprout, but the 120 currently planted have not done anything yet. I have managed to root 10 peres cuttings and then double them into 20 rooted planted. Today I put 12 small cuttings into my new hydroskiopsis chamber. It can hold 27 total, and uses a moisture wick system with vermiculite. I have a reservoir that the wick system sits inside. The reservoir utilizes an air pump and air stone system. The peres roots are protected from the bubbles.

that's not good news. Guess Ill have to try and grow them outdoors again. I am in the middle of building a 300 square foot greenhouse..do you think they would do well in there?

I tried to grow it outdoors in full sun, and it died quickly here.

I have never had any luck keeping pereskiopsis spathulata alive and healthy. Currently I have about 20 cuttings rooting. Some have a few inches of new growth, some havnt grown yet. The new growth is spindly, like 1 mm across.

What can I do to thicken the stalks?

When I woke up this morning, my TBM had two new pups. Then I went to look at my cuttings, and a 19 inch bridgesii cutting also has two pups

They are 6 inches below CFLs currently. My initial stems were very thin and poorly selected cuttings. I am turning those into better cuttings. The three that are actually a couple of inches tall are still only a millimeter or two across.

Hi guys, First post.

Not new to growing, but very new to hydro pereskiopsis. I have always had bad luck with this cactus. Now I will turn the tables. My cuttings rooted, but they grow slowly, and very spindly new growth. Is there a way to make it fatten more?
